Data/Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Salinas, CA

Salary Range: $130,000 – $200,000 per year

The Role: Our team is seeking a Data/Machine Learning Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and enhancement of smart agricultural tools by leveraging AI, machine vision, and deep learning technologies. As a key member, you’ll design and maintain data pipelines, train neural network models, and collaborate on cutting-edge projects. Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and software systems for deep-learning based computer vision in agriculture.
  • Train and evaluate neural network models, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Configure and manage local and cloud computing hardware to support computational and data storage requirements.
  • Develop prototype software for exploratory projects, including new product initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support for deployed production systems, implementing performance improvements and new functionalities as required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience with a focus on data science, machine learning, and Python or C/C++.
  • Proven experience in real-time machine vision, AI/machine learning, neural networks, and embedded systems, particularly in Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with machine learning platforms such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Proficiency in version control systems, continuous integration, and automated testing.
  • Working knowledge of optical systems, including cameras, sensors, lenses, filters, and lighting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
