Sales Manager

At Stout we design, manufacture, and build machines for the agriculture industry. Our machines integrate artificial intelligence, machine vision and deep learning into smart agricultural tools.

Location: Salinas, CA (with a hybrid work arrangement)

Salary Range: $125,000 – $165,000 per year

The Role: As the Sales Manager at Stout, you will lead national sales initiatives, leveraging your expertise in tractor implements or seed sales to enhance our market presence. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will achieve revenue targets and establish Stout as a market leader in AI technology. This role requires a self-motivated individual with a proven track record in B2B sales, strategic thinking, and a passion for emerging technologies. The position involves 50% domestic travel and some international travel, and it is based in Salinas, California, with a hybrid work model.

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • National Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive national sales strategy, incorporating your experience in tractor implements or seed sales, to achieve revenue targets and market penetration.
  • Client Acquisition: Leverage your industry expertise to identify and pursue new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with key decision-makers to secure new clients and partnerships.
  • Market Analysis: Utilize your knowledge of the agricultural sector to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions. Incorporate insights to refine sales strategies and enhance Stout’s competitive position.
  • Revenue Forecasting: Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to develop accurate sales forecasts, budgetary plans, and financial projections, considering the nuances of the agricultural market.
  • Collaboration with Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to align sales and marketing efforts, ensuring a cohesive and effective go-to-market strategy tailored to the agricultural sector.
  • Customer Success: Leverage your understanding of the agricultural customer base to collaborate with the customer success team, ensuring customer satisfaction, retention, and identifying opportunities for upselling.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports on sales performance, key metrics, and market trends, drawing on your industry knowledge to optimize sales processes.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proven Sales Leadership: Minimum of 4 years of experience in a national sales management role, with a track record of successfully driving B2B technology sales, preferably in tractor implements or seed sales.
  • Strategic Thinker: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans that align with business objectives, considering the unique challenges and opportunities in the agricultural market.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey ideas, proposals, and solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Results-Oriented: A proven ability to consistently meet or exceed sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt strategies to the specific requirements of the agricultural industry.
